Discover the Essence of Scotland: The Captivating Bramble Cocktail

This delightful libation is a modern classic - and an absolute must-try when exploring the picturesque landscapes of Scotland.

Experience the Unique Flavors of Scotland with a Bramble Cocktail

Scotland is renowned for its beautiful landscapes, historic castles, and of course, whisky. But the country also has a thriving cocktail culture that visitors should experience. One cocktail that embodies the flavors of Scotland is the bramble - a simple yet delicious blackberry and gin drink that will transport your tastebuds.

The bramble was invented in the 1980s by a bartender at Edinburgh's Bramble Bar. He wanted to create a cocktail using Scotland's most abundant berry, the blackberry, paired with gin, a spirit with deep roots in the country. The result is a beautifully balanced, slightly tart and sweet cocktail that's a delight to drink.

Recipe: Craft Your Own Bramble Cocktail

Ready to bring a piece of Scotland into your glass? Follow this simple recipe to create a Bramble cocktail that transports you to the lush landscapes of the country:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Gin
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) Simple syrup (1:1 ratio of sugar to water)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Blackberry liqueur (such as Crème de Mûre)
  • Fresh blackberries and lemon slice, for garnish

  1. Fill a shaker with ice and pour in the gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  2. Shake well until the ingredients are chilled and mixed.
  3. Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice.
  4. Drizzle the blackberry liqueur over the top, allowing it to "bleed" into the drink.
  5. Garnish with a few fresh blackberries and a slice of lemon.
  6. Stir gently before savoring every sip.
