slide Day 1Venice Arrival & Welcome Dinner
Meet your tour director at 4:00 PM for a welcome reception and orientation walk around the city known as the ’Queen of the Adriatic.’ Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner with your fellow travelers. (D)
Take a scenic cruise around the Venetian Lagoon to Murano Island, known for centuries for its artisanal glass industry. Tour a factory and see a demonstration of the art of glass blowing. Cruise back to the splendid Piazza San Marco for a walking tour, with visits to the Doge’s Palace and St Mark’s Basilica. Journey along the canals for a view of the city from a gondola. The evening is yours to explore and dine independently. (B)
Travel to historic Bologna, a culinary haven known as “La Grassa” (The Fat One). With medieval architecture, the iconic Two Towers, and the oldest university in the Western world, Bologna offers a rich blend of history, culture, and exceptional cuisine. You’ll have free time for an independent lunch before moving on to your hotel in Florence’s city center. In Florence, take an orientation walk with your tour director and then savor time to discover this magnificent city, the capital of Tuscany and the birthplace of Renaissance art and architecture. Enjoy dinner with your group. (B, D)
Take a walking tour of Florence and marvel at the sights of the city center such as the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and Piazza della Signoria. Visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s iconic sculpture of David. Savor a local lunch in the heart of Florence. After lunch you’ll have the rest of the day to explore the city at your leisure. (B, L)
You’re off to the Eternal City – Rome. Along the way, stop in the scenic hill town of Orvieto for a delicious tasting of its renowned local wine. Visit the Colosseum, imperial Rome’s iconic structure, built between 72 and 80 AD. This engineering marvel could hold up to 80,000 spectators for gladiator battles and dramatic productions. Imagine the ghosts of the Caesars in the ruins of the Forum, the ancient heart of the Roman Empire. Enjoy a free evening. (B)
Discover Rome independently this morning, with free time to explore. In the afternoon, visit the Vatican to see the awe-inspiring cultural heritage of the world’s smallest sovereign state. Take a guided tour of the Museums, see Michelangelo’s masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel, and walk through St. Peter’s Basilica. Then it’s off to dinner in a local restaurant. (B, D)

Taste of Italy with Sorrento - 10 Days/9 Nights-Great tour, highly recommend the tour and CIE as a provider

The length of the tour and the daily schedule worked very well. Everything was well-planned and if there was a glitch in the plans, there was another option in place right away. The hotels were all excellent, clean and with great facilities. I was disappointed that the pools were not open yet though. The meals that were provided on the tour were in local restaurants where we had special reserved seating and fast service. Transportation provided was nice, but the coach we used for most of the tour had very little room in the seats. Your knees were right against the seat in front of you. A little more room for relaxing and moving around would have been nice. But the drivers we had were excellent at moving the buses through narrow roads and heavy traffic at times. The hotel in Venice had air conditioning on and our room was 19 degrees C. the two nights we were there. We could not change the temperature and no blankets were available, just lightweight covers. For that reason, I slept very little and was glad to leave that location. What truly made the tour excellent though was our tour guide, Guiseppe. He was there to greet us when we arrived and throughout the whole experience, he was available to everyone and responsive to any need. His knowledge of the areas and willingness to resolve any problems that arose were truly amazing. He's a great asset to CIE and I hope you keep him. We would love to do another tour with him in Italy in the future.

An excellent tour! The sites and towns were interesting. The included meals were at wonderful restaurants. 2 and 3 night stays in each town made traveling easier.

Very organized so that we saw and did so much in 10 days. Tour director went above and beyond

Taste of Italy with Sorrento - 10 Days/9 Nights- Great guide and locations but crowds in Venice, Florence, and Rome horrible

Crowds were horrible in Veice, Florence and Rome. We got seperated from our guide in the Sistene Chapel & barely spent 15 minutes there.

Taste of Italy with Sorrento - 10 Days/9 Nights-Exceptional tour, highly recommended

I loved that we were able to experience several cities and spend a couple nights in each. Due to great organization, we always knew the plan. The bus was also comfortable and clean.

Taste of Italy - 7 Days/6 Nights-Great trip. Everything was first class, and I would definitely go again!

Everything was excellent especially the main tour guide! The meals were very good, hotels excellent, more walking than I expected but still very manageable even for a 73 year old!
