Scottish & Irish Gold - 16 Days/15 Nights-Comprehensive and fun trip to Scotland and Ireland.
We really liked the gardens at the Castles more so than the actual Castles. We actually enjoyed Ireland more than Scotland as the overnight towns had so much entertainment. We also liked how you stayed more than one night at a town. We felt like in Scotland we would have explored the hotel grounds if we had more than one night. In the future when I book I would prefer AT LEAST 2 nights per town. Also we had no idea these were 2 combined trips We thought all the people we started with would continue on to Ireland. Instead some were just doing Scotland. The 17 going on to Ireland; 4 left us to go on Ireland Dream. Then in Ireland we joined 20 new folks who just did Ireland. This is not at all clear in the tour info and should be disclosed. Having said this we REALLY loved the 20 new folks in Ireland and made some good friends. We liked the Sheep Dog presentations but since we went on the full tour we had a 2nd one in Ireland. Getting the luggage out so early probably cannot be avoided but would be more tolerable if we could stay 2-3 days in each town. LOVED the fact the luggage was taken up and taken out to coach for us. Regarding the towns: Glasgow may be a good starting point but not a very nice town. At least what we saw of it. The hotel Sandman Signature was new but seemed to be in a bad neighborhood with graffiti and very small rooms. Also would have been nice to have dinner this night together as we all got to know each other. Royal Marine Hotel near Dublin to start Ireland portion was also nice but....our group traveled by ferry (pretty cool ferry but a VERY long day) then by coach a long way to outskirts of Dublin. We arrived around 4 pm and were told are rooms weren't ready! I felt so bad for Marlene as it was not her fault. This is a trip that was planned months ago. In every other hotel we had keys in hand when we walked thru the door. Clearly there was some miscommunication with Royal Marine. Its a very nice hotel and would stay here but they owe CIE some money for this glitch. The Waterford tour of how they make the crystal was REALLY cool but....the town itself is kind of blah. Stay in Kilkenny instead. LOVE that town.

Scottish & Irish Gold - 16 Days/15 Nights-Great itinerary and excellent accommodations
Hotels were first rate. The Clayton in Dublin was excellent but perhaps something closer to the city center would be good. The itinerary was excellent, which is why we chose this trip. Our tour guides, Kelly in Scotland and Alistair in Ireland, were wonderful and so attentive to everyone’s needs. Our drivers were excellent.

Scottish & Irish Gold - 16 Days/15 Nights-An Unforgettable Experience
The trip was incredible! Our Scottish tour guide Di was incredible. Highest marks for her! We really liked Scotland the best.
The Ireland part seemed to be a lot of driving around. This did allow us to see the beautiful countryside.
The driver, Brennan - not sure I have his name quite right - was a bit harder to understand. We did get a huge amount of information, perhaps a bit more than we needed - still good historical information.
Only one bigger suggestion and one minor suggestion: perhaps at the point between Scotland and Ireland, a half day in a hotel for some down time. We were given “free time” to explore but just being able to rest from long flights and daily needing to be up early and the many (wonderful) hotel changes.
The minor suggestion would be to have the CIE name badges on lanyards instead of a safety pin or a clip that does not rotate- especially for those who have shirts with no pockets.
Make no mistake, the trip was incredible and we were SO glad to have experienced these two beautiful countries! Thank you!!
