The Adventure tour was ideal for getting to see many different areas of Ireland as well as major attractions. The hotels were comfortable and the food was always good. The choice of places to stop for lunch gave us a chance to dine in a really old Irish pub as well as taste traditional dishes.

The tour itself and the driver/guide was phenomenal. Murt O’Shea was exceptional! What keeps this from being a 5 star is the communication (or more precisely the lack of communication) from the time we booked until the backpacks were sent out. There was NO communication at all. My niece (my travel buddy) had to reach out to get a receipt for our booking( I had my credit card receipt email from my bank but nothing from CIE saying we were booked). We did book very early; so when the airline insurance time frame opened my niece added that and again got nothing from CIE confirming the trip insurance was booked. My niece again had to reach out to get an acknowledgment. This was my first experience with CIE and second tour trip. First trip was 2022 with Globus to Scotland; we received emails throughout the time from our booking— these emails detailed the next steps and gave us deadlines for updating our emergency contacts and passport information which as a novice tour traveler I really appreciated.
But onto the good stuff— as I said the driver/guide was awesome! There were a couple things that I personally didn’t enjoy that much— the Dunbrody Famine Ship … I would have preferred that time be spent in a longer city walking tour in Cobh. Or more time in the Ring of Kerry. And more time at the Giants Causeway- the highlight of the trip for me. Again for me personally I could have done without Titanic Belfast… maybe a tour of Belfast or surrounding area? I do realize it is pretty “city-like” so it maybe isn’t possible but I was very interested and anticipating the Northern Ireland part of the trip.

After booking our tour right on the CIE website, we never received any communication or receipt of payment.
I had to reach out and ask to have one sent via email. Even communication leading up to the trip was so sparse, if it was not for the backpacks I would wonder if we really were going to Ireland.
But then we got to Ireland and met Murt. There is no one better! Murt makes the tour, 💯! Murt is a historian and adds so much commentary along the way you cannot help but feel connected to the land and the times. We loved our time in Ireland, we did the small group and we met some amazing people in our group! I would book with CIE again.
