Good Beginner Tour
TD& driver were great. Included dinner at the hotel in Bath was wonderful. Overall a great starter tour for someone who hadn't been to the UK before. I brought my daughter on her 2nd trip & this fit her holiday timeline. I usually just come on my own. TD had her own hidden treasure she shared with us on one of our rest stops that was great! All the hotels were fine. Liverpool was great a great location. The only one that I have anything negative to say about is the one in Edinburgh. Distant location, rooms were cold & many had heaters or other items that didn't function. Also the food left much to be desired, both breakfast & dinner as you basically had to eat there because it was so far from anything else. Otherwise very nice.

Great short tour to see more of Scotland
I did the Taste of Scotland tour. It was definitely fast paced and a lot of bus riding, but it was worth it to see the highlands area in a short period of time. I'm glad they gave us free time to explore in St. Andrew and Edinburgh. We really enjoyed our distillery tour as well. Our tour guide that was with us for 4 days was excellent and our tour guide/driver was great and amazed us all driving through busy Edinburgh.
The hotels we stayed at all had nice rooms and bars and the food provided was excellent.

A few hiccups along the way during this enjoyable tour.
The tour director, Dianna was excellent. we enjoyed all the activities except going to leather and jewelry stores unlike the glass blowing in Murano, it was just a sales pitch in Florence. We did have a problem with luggage transfer in Rome, the porters put my wife's luggage in an empty room. It was missing for over three hours without Dianna's involvement the hotel was not taking seriously enough for our liking. we did really enjoy the tour. it was our fourth CIE tour.

Excellent guides on our Scotland tour. Our driver Marie Butler was fabulous
Great guides. Hotel choices ok. Scottish culture dinner very disappointing. Tell travelers not to expect hair dryers in Scotland!

GREAT GUIDE, Lots of Laughter and everything you could ask to see in Italy
Our Guide was FABULOUS.
I had convinced someone else to go on this CIE trip. When so many people were delayed because of air plane issues (1 couple were routed thru POLAND) and our 1st night gathering had to be delayed for an hour or so, my friend seemed ready to be negative- UNTIL our guide Diana had us all together at the restaurant with a glass of wine. SHE had everyone laughing and telling stories for about 2 hours. She was funny, professional, thoughtful and an excellent logistic manager. We had a couple of very ambulatory limited people on the tour and she was able to make special arrangements for them and keep the group going. Venice was our first gathering and to keep a large group of 44 people together among the warren of allies and bridges in Venice is NO SMALL FEAT = it was done smoothly. The gondola ride was fun as the boat guys are having a ball talking back and forth and it is such a great way to see Venice. The vaporetto was something we also did the day we arrived early and on our way to Maurano. During the bus transports we stopped at places I would LOVE to spend more time in = Bologna and ESPECIALLY Orvieto. What a great place.

10 Days of Italy
Our 10 days of Italy were fantastic and our tour guide Dianna was the best. She made everything happen considering we were there during Holy Week. We were still able to see all the most important sites in Rome.

The tour includes many beautiful places, the bus driver seemed to be tired and somewhat cranky.

Unforgettable journey.
The tour was wonderful! Marian, our shepherd and quintessential storyteller,
wove classic historical tales and personal anecdotes seamlessly with contemporary facts. Breathtaking views, ferry rides, working Border Collies, music, Irish coffee, very agreeable fellow travelers, and an expert bus driver all made for an unforgettable journey.

Very disappointed! I don't recommend CIE Tours . . .
The trip itself was awesome. All but one hotel was over the top in food and service. One hotel was a bit out of the way and the food and service not up to the standards of the other accommodations. The Shannon River cruise was a disappointment, not because the river was flooding but because the cruise people were not aware that the dock were we would have disembarked was under water. I am still disappointed that the individuals who booked my tour were not specific in the beginning on how the names on our tickets should be listed. This cost me an additional $300.00 in fees. British Airlines was the worst. They totally messed up our names on our tickets for our return flight to the states. This cost us a great deal of time and created a great deal of confusion. Our flight from London back to the states was delayed by 2 1/2 hours due to a co-pilot calling in sick at the last minute. Evidently, it took 2 1/2 hours to for a replacement to arrive at the airport. We sat on the plane during this period. As a result, everyone going to Philadelphia missed their connecting flights. We were put up in a hotel that was not the best in cleanliness. The restaurant could not accommodate the additional reservations so we were not able to have dinner (around 10:30 - 11:00 at night). The only food available was from a vending machine (snacks). It took us 3 1/2 hours to get our voucher for the hotel, get a shuttle to the hotel, and got our room keys. The next morning, we had to be on the shuttle back to the airport at 7:00 AM. The hotel did not begin serving breakfast until 6:30 so we, again, went hungry. Due to the name mix-ups at the airport, it was another 1 1/2 hours before we could finally eat breakfast. The missed connection cost me another $200.00. I contacted the airlines regarding this additional expense but did not receive a reply. I wonder, after reading this review, if CIE will have any interest in addressing this issue. Very disappointed!! At this point, I cannot recommend CIE Tours. My family and I have traveled overseas multiple times. We have never encountered the issues we experienced with this trip to Ireland.

Ireland highlights.
Our tour guide/bus driver, Brendan, was sensational. His commentary was great, his knowledge tops, and his advice helpful. Every hotel was wonderful, complete with porters, breakfast, front desk. We hit the highlights of the country, which was fine. More countryside experience would have been a nice addition.

We loved everything we saw. Tony was a fantastic tour guide. Martin and the sheepdog demo, Titanic Belfast, Cliffs of Moher, Glide Inn, McGarrary's, Moriarty, Donegal, Triola were highlights.
