2020 The Irish Pub Tour 9 Days / 8 Nights / 14 Meals

Day 1: Dublin Tour & Welcome Drink
Tour starts 2:00 PM at your Dublin hotel. Set out on an introductory tour of central Dublin, a friendly city famed for its wit and sense of fun. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner with your group at The Church Café Bar and Restaurant; this converted building is where brewer Arthur Guinness was married, playwright Sean O’Casey was baptized, and where Handel practiced the organ before the first-ever public performance of his “Messiah” in 1742.  (D)

Day 2: Kilkenny & Smithwick’s Experience
Head to the small, historic city of Kilkenny for a guided walking tour along its Medieval Mile to experience its rich heritage, narrow streetscapes, and well-preserved merchants’ houses. Stop at one of its classic pubs. Smell the hops and enjoy a sample on a tour of Smithwick’s Experience, telling the story of the popular brewery in the heart of the city since 1710. Spend some free time browsing in charming Kilkenny before dinner.  (B, D)

Day 3: Blarney Castle & Killarney
Visit the Dungarvan Brewing Company and learn about their traditional, bottle-conditioned ales and stouts. Travel on to visit Blarney Castle to kiss the famous stone, which legend promises will bestow the “Gift of the Gab” or explore the beautiful gardens. Pass through County Cork to the lively town of Killarney – a draw for visitors to Ireland since the 18th century – where you will have free time after dinner to explore some of its friendly pubs, many with live music.  (B, D)

Day 4: Dingle Peninsula & Celtic Whiskey Bar
Head to the glorious Dingle Peninsula, made famous by two movies, “Ryan’s Daughter” and “Far & Away,” which showcased the wonderful scenery. Visit the South Pole Inn for an Irish coffee and learn about Tom Crean, an early explorer who bravely journeyed to the South Pole and opened the pub in 1927 after his return to Ireland. Visit a farm for an immersion into traditional farming life and watch skilled sheepdogs demonstrate their talents at herding. Enjoy some free time and lunch on your own in the town of Dingle. In the evening, head to the Celtic Whiskey Bar in Killarney for a tasting, chocolate pairing, and dinner.  (B, D)

Day 5: Cliffs of Moher & Galway
Embark on a ferry ride across the wide River Shannon Estuary. Take in the spectacular beauty of the Cliffs of Moher, soaring 700 feet above the Atlantic surf. Walk along the top of the cliffs for views across Galway Bay to Connemara and the Aran Islands. In the evening, have an early dinner at your hotel, then head out for a CIE Tours Exclusive: Private early access to a special evening of storytelling and traditional music by the turf fire at O’Connors Famous Pub in Salthill.  (B, D)

Day 6: Sean’s Bar & Lough Lee Cruise
Spend a leisurely morning and lunchtime exploring vibrant, artistic Galway as you please. Head to Athlone and enjoy an Irish coffee as you cruise along Lough Ree on a replica Viking longship. Then head to Sean’s Bar in Athlone for a CIE Tours Exclusive. Sean’s Bar is not only the oldest in Ireland; dating back to 900 AD, it’s the oldest in Europe, according to the Guinness Book of Records. The sloped floors (often covered with sawdust), candlelight, and turf fire pay nostalgic tribute to this pub’s rich history.  Enjoy dinner in your Athlone hotel this evening. (B, D)

Day 7: Guinness Storehouse & Irish Whiskey Museum
Enjoy the scenery of central Ireland as you head to Dublin on the east coast. Visit the Guinness Storehouse in the heart of the city, one of Ireland’s most popular attractions, and enjoy a sample of Ireland’s iconic brew as you enjoy the panoramic view from the seventh-floor Gravity Bar. In the evening, head to the Irish Whiskey Museum, where you will take a short private tour and savor a tasting. In a CIE Tours Exclusive, you’ll enjoy a special after-hours experience with an information dinner and music from a traditional band – and they’ll provide instruments so you can learn to play along.  (B)

What can I say; booking was a breeze, staff were amazing, rates were top notch, itinerary was PHENOMENAL, and Ireland was AMAZING!! I don't just give 5 star ratings unless they've been earned, and CIE Tours International is the way to go! My wife and I were on our honeymoon (9/18) and CIE went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of at every beautiful stop. The attention to detail they put into making sure their tours are top of the line is truly second to none! A+++ experience!!!

The Ireland Pub tour was perfect. Everything was so well organized! The scheduling was on point. Expect to gain about 12 pounds though! They feed you well!

We booked our tour online and had no problems at all. The booking system was very easy to use. We did an 8 day Irish Pub tour which covered southern Ireland and had some fantastic experiences. The transportation was comfortable and the location of the accommodation was central to attractions. We had a fabulous time, which was made more fun by the others on the tour. I would love to travel with CIE again, and already have a growing wish list.

My husband and I did the guided Ireland Pub tour in September 2019 for our honeymoon. From start to finish this trip was incredible. Our bus driver, Johnny, really made this trip memorable. His commentary throughout our tour was humorous and entertaining. He was so knowledgeable about every area we passed through and the history of the country. We did have some issues with our flights which was not CIE's fault (the airline company cancelled our flights a month out) which was resolved quickly by team members.

Booking the tour was great but booking airline seats that we paid extra for to assure we had extra leg room due to a medical condition did not happen on the return flight from Ireland. Also American Airlines had multiple delays - we left hours later and it impacted our first day’s tour. The airlines did not communicate very well regarding multiple changes of delays and gates. I would suggest using another airline .

It was difficult to get fair pricing. Stop all the 'sales' and have one permanent fair price. I should not have to wait for a 10% off sale to purchase a trip!!

The tour was fantastic, what we expected. Most of the accomodations were fabulous. Meals were also great. Sites, culture and experience of Ireland was phenomenal. Learned a lot of their history and culture.

Date: 06/26/2019

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the easy process to book the tour we wanted. Our Pub & Culture Tour itinerary was well paced to include interesting activities, like a microbrewery tour and tasting, and down time, like free time at Blarney Castle. The "off the beaten path" locations we visited like The South Pole Inn were some of our favorite stops. Our driver/tour leader Matt was a very informative, funny, and an outstanding driver. He provided excellent information and kept our group moving along, on time. I cannot say enough about how wonderful our Ireland tour with CIE Tours International was. We met amazing people, had fun experiences, and made memories that will last a lifetime.

our flight was delayed by two days, I emailed and called CIE requesting a number to contact our guide so we could find out where and when we could catch up with our tour - No response???? you did inform our guide we would be late but not any word from him regarding times etc. disappointed that we missed the whole first day, we would have taken a taxi if we only knew when & where to find them!!!!

Customer: CIE Tours Customer

Date: 06/04/2019

The booking process was easy. When a issue regarding 1 of our group could not make the the departure time of the CIE planned flight, the agents happily booked an alternate flight. Two of the party arrived in Dublin past the time frame for free shuttle - a taxi voucher was provided.

Customer: Brian Attaway

Date: 04/04/2019

I would use them again! The tour guide Dennis Was amazing. He made sure everyone had fun and definitely kept us laughing. If I book again to go back to Ireland I would definitely ask for him to be my guide. There was a couple that had the same last name as a bar there and they asked Dennis to stop and he did. Means a lot to people to know you are spending a week with a stranger that eventually becomes your friend and shows he cares! Great job Dennis! ( I am trying to attach pictures but it’s not letting me)

We absolutely loved the CIE Pub Tour! Everything was so well organized. We were able to see a lot more sights than if we were traveling by ourselves. We also still had lots of free time in the afternoon and evenings to go explore places that were not on the tour. Also, our bus driver was fantastic! He knew the history of Ireland inside and out and was very funny and professional!

Our tour guide was Michael and he was excellent - his stories, jokes and knowledge kept us all entertained. But don't mention Brexit! Loved the small tour as opposed to the larger bus. Everyone got along really well! Accommodation was fine but meals were all a bit same same

Customer: Ms. Roxanne L Cundiff

Date: 11/11/2018

It was an amazing experience and have told friends and family about my experience with CIE tours

Customer: Amanda O’Keefe

Date: 11/11/2018

Upon booking our trip we were not given the option to take a 8 or 9 day trip. We were only told of the 9 days. Because of the 9th day we had several issues because of the Papal visit. The trip itself was amazing but when issues arose there was very little communication between CIE tours and my party. It was extremely difficult to get in contact with anyone. We needed to switch hotels because of the Papal visit and we were not given the information about who our transfer was with or what hotel we were going to. The stress of this completely altered our trip. The family back in the states were attempting to call CIE tours and the customer service representative was rude and not helpful. Upon our return to the States, trying to contact someone was extremely difficult. Weeks would go by without a call back. Mistakes were made when issuing a refunds and it was extremely frustrating. We did not feel like a priority or that our business mattered. I returned to the states on 8/25 and my issue was resolved 11/9.

Date: 11/06/2018

There are many tours and prices to choose from, but from booking to departure CIE tours did a fanominal job. John, our driver, was very professional yet he gave us a inner glimpse of the daily life of the Irish people. We booked a day early and stay in Dublin. We caught up on our sleep and explored the city on our own.

Customer: Joseph Dennis Mclaughlin

Date: 11/06/2018

Everything was excellent from the hotels we stayed at to the meals and especially our tour guide and bus driver Matt Nolan who made us feel very welcome in Ireland. I would highly recommend cie tours to anyone looking to tour Ireland, and I have.

Customer: Mrs. Karin C Littlefield

Date: 11/07/2018

Every facet of our trip was excellent and perfect! Denis O'Sullivan was exemplary as a driver /guide: versed in history, social information, and repartee. The bus was comfortable and meticulously clean inside and out. I recommend CIE to everyone I talk to and will definitely take another tour with CIE. I loved the hotels, border collie herding, Irish coffee, as well as the Guinness and Smithwicks tours. The balance of tourist spots and local pubs gave a balance to the trip and I fell in love with the beautiful countryside and, most of all, the people I met in the pubs. Easily the best trip I have taken. Thanks to CIE for their impeccable attention to detail. There were no flaws in their organization and Denis made everything happen perfectly and on time. The four of us have nothing but wonderful memories and photos. Karin

It was first rate. I booked only 14 days in advance of our trip and everything worked out perfectly. We booked the flight also with CIE. The fellow (Brian) I believe, assisted us in getting the best flight at the last minute. Wonderful.
