Located in the southwest region of Ireland, County Limerick is known for the medieval buildings, such as King John’s Castle and St Mary’s Cathedral, of Limerick City, which in the 16th and 17th century was known as the most beautiful city in Ireland. Frank McCourt detailed his childhood life in Limerick in his book, Angela’s Ashes. The nearby little village of Adare is known as Ireland’s prettiest town.
