Best of Ireland May 2019

Tour was well organized, went off without a hitch. Our tour guide Jerry was the bomb! Excellent time! Can’t wait to book our next adventure!

My wife and I felt like we were traveling with friends and well cared for.

The overall trip was outstanding. My one complaint is with the booking of our flight to Glasgow. Our flight started at Washington Dulles to Dublin (over night) then a flight from Dublin to Heathrow where we had a flight from Heathrow to Glasgow. We were required to go through security three times to get to Glasgow arriving at 1:30 PM. We booked over 6 months in advance of the trip and I can see no reason for the side trip to Heathrow. I am 81 years old and in reasonably good condition; however that trip wiped me out.
After we got our bags in Glasgow and walked out to the arrival area CIE was standing tall and right on time. The remainder of the trip was outstanding.

I had never booked with a tour group before (used triple a or other travel agencies), but after researching various tour groups I decided to take a chance with the CIE group
I was so pleased with the folks that helped me book this trip. My granddaughter had only a very limited time frame that she could accompany me due to school, church and military obligations. After carefully reading every tour offered the taste of Ireland tour was the best fit. Every time I called the CIE staff they were so helpful, making it a worry free endeavor. Thanks everyone.

Great trip, but...

Good: accommodations were top notch, tour guide (Patrick Smith) was great beyond words, provided meals were very good, itinerary was hectic but otherwise interesting and informative

Poor: CIE Tours (New Jersey) response to flight disruption due to grounding of Boeing AirMax 737. Because of cancellation of flight (Shannon to Providence) CIE response was to provide bus ride (2.5hrs) from Shannon to Dublin, 6hr flight to Newark,NJ ...then a 3hr bus ride to Providence! This was the only option given by the NJ office. After I did multiple hours of research and phone conversations with Norwegian Air was I able to get a flight a day after our original departure directly to Providence from Dublin. Furthermore the NJ office wouldn’t guarantee transportation from Shannon to Dublin after I reworked flight. If not for my repeated calls/emails was a return to Dublin provided I would have been on my own in Shannon. Once in Dublin CIE dropped other tour patrons at a hotel in Dublin City and if not for the generosity of our tour guide Mr. Smith who gave us a lift to the airport we would have been on our own getting to our hotel close to the airport.
Overall we enjoyed the trip but the lack of assistance in our flight disruption was greatly disappointing and would be a pause for concern with either using or recommending CIE Tours again.

I told them what I wanted and they took care of everything. They notified me about payments and sent necessary documents. All I had to do was show up.

From start to finish CIE did a great job.

I did all our booking through a travel agent so for me it was incredibly smooth and easy. Everything was done pretty quickly and questions were answered.

A taste of Scotland and Ireland

The agents in booking were very thorough. All were pleasant! The tour was wonderful. Our guide in Scotland Onya was very knowledgeable and sweet. The driver whom was also our tour guide in Ireland was extremely skilled driving thru those narrow streets. He was so knowledgeable with Irish history, with a wonderful sense of humor. Overall the trip was AWESOME! ☘

I didn’t deal with CIE directly as I was referred to an agent who handled all of the bookings for me. However, all appointments were kept and on time.

CIE Tours via Affordable Tours booking was great

We actually booked with Affordable Tours for the 2-for-1 companion airfare promo. Affordable Tours rep Steve Warren was an excellent service travel consultant. CIE Tours did catch our timing discrepancy of our flight from SFO to LHR for the tour starting at Tuesday 2:30 PM. We had to book one more night to meet the tour on time. Good catch.
Affordable Tours' online program was initially not easy to use but I got familiar with the format. Responses were immediate.
