So accommodating. When I asked about my daughter and I doing our own leg to Paris she had no problem booking our return flight there.

We were not permitted to use the bathroom on the bus which was my biggest concern. We were traveling with 2 people with medical conditions where using the bathroom was a must. This caused several people on the trip some anxiety as it cut into the touring time to make sure a bathroom was found and used before boarding the bus. In may situations, there were long lines for the restrooms and people were worried about getting back to the bus on time. Your advertisement for this trip clearly stated coach buses with bathrooms. My second area of dissatisfaction was again something that was advertised,,,free WIFI which I never had on the bus. I run a business where it was important to be in communication with others and I needed to wait until I returned to the hotel rooms to conduct my business which was totally unfair. Even the tour guide was overheard asking the bus driver why this newer bus did not seem to have WIFI connections. While our tour guide was knowledgeable about historical facts, she totally lacked inter personal skills and this put a damper on our trip. I was not the only person who felt this way. She seemed to have a low energy level and a medical condition which cased her to constantly clear her throat which was annoying as she was speaking on the microphone. As I observed other tour guides, they clearly had personality and connected with their clients. I am not sure why CIE has a policy that the driver and tour guide is not allowed to eat meals with us because this would have been a nice way to interact. I know that other companies don't have this rule. There was also definite tension between our tour guide (Mary) and our bus driver who was absolutely wonderful. Martin could not do enough for us but we all felt that we were discouraged from talking to him. This felt like we were back in elementary school. Our welcome orientation meeting was a joke with all of us getting one drink and a bowl of peanuts which not everyone can eat. A simple assortment of snack would have been so welcoming and would not have cost that much. It seemed very cheap to me. As we arrived to our first hotel, our rooms were not ready which was not a great way to start and our bags were left out in the lobby. We all brought our carry on bags on the bus as we did not want anything to get lost. After traveling long distances to get to Dublin, it would have been so relaxing to get to our rooms to freshen up. Another annoying thing was the rule about not recommending places to eat. Being new to this country, many of us had no ides what places were good and what places we should avoid. CIE could easily put together a list of 10 restaurants and then people could make better choices. Our local guides were more than helpful about places to eat. In several cases we did not have enough time to visit a particular place, eat lunch, use the bathroom and be back to the bus at the required time. For example,,at Blarney Castle those of us that waited in line to kiss the blarney stone did not have time to shop at the mill stores. We could have left earlier in the day to permit more time for shopping. The same thing happened at Stonehenge. We were doing the self guided tour but it left no time to visit the museum. My sister has celiac disease and had to advocate at each meal for the foods she was able to eat despite having notified CIE ahead of time about these special needs. I took the time to write this review in the hope that things can improve for people doing these tours in the future. People paid a good deal of money and for many our expectations were definitely not met.

We replied to an email regarding air transportation, but we were told it was premature. No one got back to us, so we overlooked it entirely and had to book our own. Our mistake, but it was upsetting.

Food- stopped for "fast food" twice, with no other option available. Hotel meals were produced on a "food for the masses" type situation. The schedule was so tight we did not have time to go elsewhere for meals. Would rather have had more free time so we could decide where and what we wanted to eat, even at our own cost. Hotels- Overall fine, but our hotel room in Galway had a toilet that did not work well (would only flush once every 10 minutes, and that did not have enough pressure to clear the bowl). Hotel staff tried to tell us "that's how toilets in Ireland are." Time- our guides treated us like farm animals, moving us from one place to another. The end result was we were not able to fully experience ANY of the places we visited and left me feeling like our guides did not value us as customers.
