Lanark

Lanark is a small town rich in history located in the county of Lanarkshire in Scotland’s more populous Central Belt. It’s been a market town since medieval times when King David I of Scotland made it a Royal Burgh in 1140, thereby encouraging trade. Legend has it that William Wallace married a lass from Lanark, Marion Braidfute, and that he began his campaign for Scottish Independence in there in 1297.

Argyll

Argyll is an historic county in western Scotland. Argyll is said to be of ancient origin, corresponding to part of the kingdom of Dál Riata from the late 6th century on Great Britain. The name Argyll derives from Old Gaelic airer Goídel meaning border region of the Gaels. Argyllshire is split into two mainland sections and also includes a large number of islands that fall within the Inner Hebrides.

Inverness

The largest city and the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands, Inverness is located on Scotland’s northeast coast, where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth. Nearby, the historic Battle of Culloden was fought in 1746 on Culloden Moor. Inverness is home to Inverness Castle perched above the River Ness and its Old Town includes 19th-century Inverness Cathedral and an indoor Victorian Market.
