Today, I joined a new tour! This tour is called Taste of Cornwall and Wales. My tour director is David Turner, the epitome of a fine Englishman. This tour is part of a longer one that is twenty-four days in total, Grand Tour of Britain & Ireland. Twenty-eight people were on the tour, including a family of ten made up of Grandma and Grandpa, their daughter and son accompanied by their spouses, and four grandchildren. The family decided to take the tour as a celebration of the grandparents' fiftieth wedding anniversary... Congrats!

The new guests, including myself, joined the pre-existing tour in Dublin, Ireland. First thing in the morning on Tuesday, after a wholesome breakfast at the cozy Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, we took a very short ride through the city of Dublin to Dublin Port, where we took the ferry to Holyhead. The ferry wasn't too crowded and offered plenty to do, including cafes, shopping, and cinemas. I opted to take a comfortable seat in a quiet room where I took a snooze until arrival in Holyhead.

Departing the ferry took no time at all and just like that, we were in Wales! David is full of knowledge, like all the guides I've met so far. On the way to the tour's first visit, Conwy Castle, he shared just about everything we needed to know about Wales, including traditional Welsh music to set the mood. I needed to set up at the hotel in preparation for the social media help session I was to host later that night, so chose to skip Conwy Castle and headed for The Quay hotel in Conwy. It only took about ten minutes to arrive at the hotel from Conwy Castle.

The Quay is a magnificent hotel. As we passed a gorgeous Marina with boats bobbing up and down, the coach began to slow and I shook my head in disbelief that we had arrived. The area is astounding. Surrounded by water, which is surrounded by proud hills and small, lush mountains, it's hard to feel anything but at peace. From The Quay's outdoor patio, there is a stunning view of Conwy Castle across water. The inside of The Quay is simply luxurious, with most rooms offering fabulous views, and many with balconies. If you don't have a view of the water, you'll probably have a view of the tranquil courtyard in the center of the hotel. Needless to say, we are all very happy to spend the night there.

I can tell this is going to be a great tour and I'm so excited to visit Cardiff Castle tomorrow!

Meet ya there!

Samantha
