Driver & Commentary

Your driver/guide is key to this vacation. All of our drivers are fully experienced and familiar with Ireland's attractions, many having worked as guides with CIE Tours. Your driver will be able to make suggestions as to routes and recommended visits. He will also be able to give you an informal commentary on various aspects of life in Ireland and places along the itinerary as he drives. Gratuities are not included and are customary for excellent service.

Itineraries

If you need ideas for putting itineraries together, we recommend you review the coach tour programs on pages 14-57. These itineraries have been tested and refined through the years. We will also be happy to customize arrangements especially for you.

Sightseeing Visits

Your vacation includes an open-top bus tour in Dublin and a visit with a drink at either Guinness Storehouse or Old Jameson Distillery. Admission fees to other visitor attractions are not included. You will receive a discount book, Ireland at a Glimpse, which offers 50% vouchers at a wide variety of attractions. If you want the driver to accompany you, you will need to purchase an admission ticket for him too.

Hotels

All of the hotels will be chosen and reserved especially for you, depending on your interests and preferred routing. Your driver has an accommodation allowance and will make his own arrangements - at times he will stay in the same hotels and other times not.

Meals

A full breakfast in your hotel is included every morning. Lunch, dinner and snacks are not included but your driver will be able to recommend suitable places to stop along the way. He will have an expense allowance for his own meals; however, at times you may wish to invite him to eat with you.

Pick Up & Drop Off

Based on your flight information, your driver will arrange to meet you on arrival in Ireland and transfer you to the airport 2-3 hours prior to your departure flight time, or at other locations if you wish.

Driving Times

The car and driver are basically at your disposal. However, the allowance is a maximum of 8 hours' driving time per day – time is calculated only when the vehicle is in motion so meal and sightseeing stops are not included.
